Bella & Oscar’s Breenhold Gardens Wedding | Blue Mountains Magic

Bella & Oscar reached out just a few months before their wedding day—hoping I might still be available, even though I’d technically closed bookings for the year. Their original plans for a larger celebration had shifted into something more relaxed and intimate: a midweek wedding in the Blue Mountains at the breathtaking Breenhold Gardens in Mount Wilson.

As luck would have it, I had no weddings either side of their date—so it was an easy yes from me.

A Last-Minute Wedding That Fell Perfectly Into Place

Within 48 hours, we jumped on a Zoom call to chat through their vision. They were planning a low-key, elopement-style day with an elegant garden feel—surrounded only by their closest family and friends. They also wanted video, so I recommended my mate Andy (Filmed by Andy), who I’ve worked with more times than I can count.

From there, the planning rolled on quickly and stress-free—a few emails, a couple of phone chats, and we had everything locked in: timeline, locations, a meaningful photo list, and a plan to scout the venue the day before the wedding.

The Road to the Mountains

What was meant to be a cruisy drive up turned into a wild ride. Torrential rain, high winds, traffic crawling at 40km/h—classic unpredictable mountain weather. But once we passed Sydney and started heading toward Mount Wilson, the clouds parted. A few coffees later, we arrived at one of the most magical Blue Mountains wedding venues: Breenhold Gardens.

Discovering Breenhold Gardens – A Forest Wonderland

If you’ve never been, Breenhold is huge—think forests, pine trees, old stone structures, winding garden paths, and European-style garden rooms, all hidden in the heart of the Blue Mountains.

Andy and I spent the afternoon walking the property, planning shots based on the light and mapping out some wet-weather backup options. And it’s a good thing we did…

Wedding Day – Moody Skies & Cinematic Moments

The day started with coffee in Kurrajong, followed by a gear check and a weather radar refresh (typical Blue Mountains prep!). Sun, fog, rain—it all made an appearance.

When we arrived at Breenhold, we had time to capture some setup shots and soak in the atmosphere. But right before Bella was about to walk down the aisle, the skies opened again. Umbrellas were handed out, sandwich bags and gaff tape went on the gear—and we leaned in.

Bella made her way down the forest path solo, then was joined by her dad halfway through. It was emotional, cinematic, and completely unforgettable. The soft mist, filtered light through the trees, and gentle rain made it feel like a scene from a romantic film.

They exchanged vows under a canopy of trees, surrounded by loved ones—and yes, it was as dreamy as it sounds.

Portraits in the Pines – Just the Two of Them

After family photos and a quick round of hugs, we headed back into the gardens for portraits—and that’s where the magic really happened.

We wandered through pine forests, moss-covered paths, and secret garden corners that felt straight out of Europe. One of my favourite moments? Bella and Oscar running through the forest, laughing, soaked in light rain and pure joy. It was real, spontaneous, and beautiful.

We were also joined by Sinoma from Studio Be Wed, who filmed some relaxed, behind-the-scenes video of the couple. Her quiet, unobtrusive style fit the vibe perfectly.

A Candlelit Forest Reception

Their intimate reception took place on-site at Breenhold—surrounded by tall trees, long tables, and a small group of family and friends. The Wilderness Chef served up locally inspired dishes that looked as good as they tasted.

There were heartfelt speeches, plenty of laughs, and a first dance under the trees—guests forming a circle of love around them on the forest floor.

We capped the night off with a quick final shoot in the rain, using our video lights to create some soft, romantic portraits of Bella & Oscar lit up in the dark. Quiet, cinematic, and the perfect end to the day.

TESTIMONIAL:

“Bryce captured our wedding so beautifully, bringing his unique style to our day to encapsulate our vibe effortlessly! From the very first phone call we knew we were in good hands. He was extremely easy to talk to during the booking process and his expertise in helping to plan out our day was instrumental in making our day run smoothly.

We had an outdoor wedding and it rained all day, Bryce was 100% down to brave the weather and absolutely make it work to his advantage. All of our photos look like they came straight out of a dream. Both he and Andy (the videographer he helped us organise) are incredible at making you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera and are truly dedicated to giving you the best shots that they can possibly deliver.

The turnaround time on the photos was also very short and it was very clear that Bryce gave a lot of attention to them during the editing process. My husband and I could not be happier with how they turned out and genuinely think that we have never looked better!”
