Wedding Photography FAQs

Hunter Valley wedding photography FAQ — Laura and Nathan at Newcastle Club

Planning a wedding comes with a lot of questions — and that’s completely normal.

Below are some of the most common things couples ask in the lead-up to their wedding. If you don’t see your question here, just reach out. I’m always happy to help.

Where are you based?

I’m based in the Hunter Valley and photograph weddings across Newcastle, the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains, Sydney and wider New South Wales.

Travel is simple and planned in advance, so there are no surprises on the day.

How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?

For Hunter Valley and Newcastle weddings, I'd recommend booking as early as possible — ideally 12–18 months in advance for peak dates. Saturday weddings between October and April fill the fastest,

particularly at popular Hunter Valley venues like Peterson House, Bimbadgen and White Barn Pokolbin. Midweek, Sunday and winter weddings often have more availability. If your date is coming up sooner, it's always worth getting in touch to check — last-minute bookings do sometimes come through.

How many photos will we receive?

For a full wedding day, most couples receive approximately:

650–1000 finished images

This can vary depending on coverage hours, guest numbers, and how full your day is — but you’ll always receive a complete story of your wedding from start to finish.

How quickly will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive:

Preview images within 48 hours
Your full gallery delivered within approximately 4 weeks

This allows you to relive the day quickly, while still giving me the time needed to carefully edit and deliver your full collection.

How will we receive our photos?

Your photos are delivered through a private online gallery where you can:

  • Download your images

  • Share with family and friends

  • Order professional prints

  • Access your gallery anytime

It’s simple, secure and easy to use.

Do you help with timelines and planning?

Yes — timeline guidance is included with every wedding.

I help plan:

  • Ceremony timing

  • Travel between locations

  • Family photo timing

  • Sunset portraits

  • Overall flow of the day

The goal is to keep things relaxed, realistic and running smoothly.

Do you photograph same-sex weddings?

Absolutely.

No matter how you identify or define your relationship, I’d be honoured to capture your wedding day.

Can we keep our photos private?

Yes — completely.

If you’d prefer your photos not be shared online or on social media, just let me know at any point. Your privacy is always respected.

What happens if you're sick or unable to attend?

This has never happened — but I always plan for the unexpected.

If something truly unforeseen occurred, I have a trusted network of experienced professional photographers who could step in to ensure your day is still captured properly.

Your wedding is always protected.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes.

Most couples follow a simple payment structure:

  • $1,000 booking fee to secure your date

  • Second payment 6 months before the wedding

  • Final balance 30 days before the wedding

Payment plans and credit card payments are available.

Can we customise our photography coverage?

Absolutely.

Every wedding is different, and coverage can be tailored to suit your plans — including:

  • Additional hours

  • Second photographer

  • Engagement sessions

  • Smaller or shorter weddings

We’ll simply build the right coverage for your day.

Do you photograph elopements and smaller weddings?

Yes.

I offer coverage for:

  • Elopements

  • Micro weddings

  • Shorter celebrations

  • Weekday weddings

Coverage typically starts from 2 hours.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes — I regularly photograph weddings across:

  • Hunter Valley

  • Newcastle

  • Central Coast

  • Blue Mountains

  • Sydney

  • Regional NSW

  • Interstate and destination weddings

Travel is always discussed upfront so everything is clear and simple.

Can we print our photos?

Of course.

You can order professional prints directly through your gallery, or download your images and print them wherever you prefer.

What happens if we need to cancel or move our wedding?

Life happens — and flexibility is important.

The booking fee is non-refundable because it secures your date and protects the business after turning away other bookings.

If your plans change, we’ll always work together to find the best possible solution.
