Horizons Maroubra Beach Wedding | Jaime & David

Horizons Maroubra Beach Wedding | Jaime & David

A wedding by the ocean always brings a certain energy — relaxed, meaningful, and a little bit magical — and Jaime & David’s Horizons Maroubra Beach wedding was exactly that.

I first met Jaime and David a couple of years before their own wedding day, when Jaime was filming a wedding I was photographing and David was right there beside her, assisting and driving. From the start, they felt like old friends — easy, genuine, and completely in sync. So when their enquiry came through for a Sydney wedding, it felt like things coming full circle.

A Day Blending Cultural Tradition & Coastal Style

Jaime & David’s wedding day began bright and early with a traditional Cambodian ceremony at David’s parents’ home. The ceremony ran for several hours and included three outfit changes, each one thoughtfully chosen and deeply meaningful. It was a beautiful way to honour family, culture, and tradition before transitioning into the second half of their celebration.

After family photos and lunch at the house, the couple headed to the Crowne Plaza Coogee to get ready for their Western-style ceremony. This mid-day reset gave the afternoon a relaxed pace and allowed everyone to fully enjoy both parts of the day without rushing.

Beach Ceremony at Maroubra

Just metres from the reception venue, Jaime & David exchanged vows on the sand with the ocean stretching out behind them. Their beach ceremony was short, heartfelt, and perfectly suited to the setting — intimate, calm, and focused on what mattered most.

After the ceremony, we captured a few quick photos with guests before heading off for portraits as the light softened and clouds rolled in along the coast.

Sunset Portraits Around Maroubra

Maroubra offers some incredible variety within a small area, which makes it ideal for wedding portraits. We began at the main beach before heading to Jack Vanny Lookout, where the landscape opens up to dramatic cliff edges, grassy trails, ocean baths, and wide coastal views.

The light was soft and glowy — the kind that adds atmosphere without needing to force anything — and it suited Jaime & David perfectly. These moments felt relaxed and unposed, giving them space to enjoy being together while taking in the view.

Reception at Horizons South Maroubra

Following sunset, we made our way back to Horizons South Maroubra for the reception. The evening flowed effortlessly from speeches to dinner and onto the dance floor, with plenty of laughter and energy filling the space.

Later in the night, we stepped outside briefly for a champagne pop photo — a simple, fun way to wrap up the coverage and reflect the relaxed, celebratory feel of the day.

Why Horizons Maroubra Beach Works So Well for Weddings

Horizons Maroubra Beach is a strong option for couples wanting:

Its proximity to the beach and surrounding headlands means couples don’t need to travel far for variety, which helps keep timelines smooth and stress-free.

Kind Words from Jaime & David

“Bryce is an amazing photographer — and even better, a genuinely nice human being. He was so organised and prepared. We had our wedding at a venue he had never shot at, so he came down to Sydney the day before on his own time to scout sunset locations.

He was so calm during the day and worked so well with our videographer that guests assumed they had worked together before. He even sent us sneak peeks less than two days after the wedding. We couldn’t recommend Bryce more highly.”

TESTIMONIAL:

Bryce is an amazing photographer! And even better, he is a genuinely nice human being. He was so organised and prepared. We had the wedding at a venue he had never shot at, so he came down to Sydney a day before on his own time to look around and find the best spot for sunset photos.

He was so chill during the day and worked so well with my videographer that guests asked if they had worked together. They had never met!

He even sent us a sneak peek of some of his favourite photos less than 2 days after the wedding. Legend! I highly recommend hiring Bryce as your wedding photographer if you are looking for beautiful photos you can treasure for a lifetime.
