Marlie & Pat | The Rocks, Sydney Engagement Shoot
Marlie & Pat’s Engagement Shoot - The Rocks, Sydney
While I was in Sydney for a wedding at the Pyrmont Registry (with the couple getting ready nearby at The Star Casino), I had some spare time in the evening post-wedding. Since it was a short coverage day—just three hours—I popped a little call-out on Insta to see if any couples were keen for a sunset engagement shoot.
A few people replied, but the first and most excited were Marlie & Pat. These two are tying the knot at Peppers Creek Chapel in the Hunter Valley next year, so this was the perfect chance to catch up, get them comfy in front of the camera, and create some magic ahead of their big day.
We met at Circular Quay and slowly made our way around the harbour, ending up at one of Sydney's most iconic spots—The Rocks. Full of charm, sandstone buildings, boutique shops, wine bars and hidden corners, it was the ultimate backdrop for their shoot. We hit up spots like the Argyle Stairs, Hickson Rd Reserve with views back to the Opera House, the exterior of the MCA, the little garden pocket between George St and the harbour—and a bunch of unexpected spots we found just by wandering.
As the sun set over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, casting soft shadows across the water and buildings, these two brought big energy. Playful, fun, and completely in their own world. They'd come into the shoot a little nervous, unsure about being posed or over-directed. But by the end, they were relaxed and surprised by how chill the whole process was. And the photos? Pure gold.
TESTIMONIAL:
We recently had an engagement shoot with Bryce following a very strong recommendation from our friends (whose wedding he photographed). To put it plainly, we ADORE Bryce.
He is so insanely talented and put us at such ease. My fiancé and I are not major PDA people and are awkward at our very best. However, Bryce made the magic happen. Not only did it feel like we were hanging out with an old friend, but his vision for these photographs was impeccable. We have recently booked him for our wedding and hope he's around for any future births, deaths and marriages! (Is this an option, Bryce?)
Bryce is not only a photographer but also a newfound friend, comedian, and all-around great guy.
