Tori & Tay | Ravella 48 Watt Street Wedding (Styled Shoot)

Newly Rebranded to Ravella

This styled wedding shoot at Ravella 48 Watt Street was originally planned as a creative collaboration showcasing one of Newcastle’s most exciting inner-city venues — but it quickly turned into something far more memorable.

Formerly known as 48 Watt Street, Ravella has been reimagined into a modern, industrial wedding space that suits couples wanting something bold, urban, and a little different from the traditional.

An Inner-City Styled Shoot Concept

The idea for the shoot began as a simple concept between Filmed by Andy and myself — creating an editorial-style shoot that leaned into Newcastle’s cityscape and highlighted Ravella as a ceremony and reception space.

Once we started reaching out to local vendors, the idea quickly grew into a full collaboration with some of the region’s most talented creatives on board.

Celebrant Jaya Bargwanna suggested Tori & Tay as the perfect couple for the shoot — a genuine, stylish pair with an easy connection that translated effortlessly on camera.

From Styled Shoot to Surprise Proposal

As planning progressed, Tori reached out with an unexpected idea — she wanted to use the shoot to propose to Tay. With everyone involved immediately on board, the shoot quietly evolved to include a carefully planned surprise proposal.

Love Glows happened to have a giant “Will You Marry Me?” sign ready to go, which became the centrepiece of the final scene.

Rooftop Light & City Streets

We began the shoot on the rooftop of Bolton Street car park, just as the sun started to dip behind the city. The golden light shifted quickly into deep purples and blues, setting the tone for the evening.

From there, we moved through Bolton, King, and Watt Streets, using Newcastle’s architecture, laneways, and street lighting to create moody, cinematic portraits that reflected the urban feel of the venue.

Ceremony Styling at Ravella 48 Watt Street

The final location was Ravella itself, where a ceremony setup awaited inside The Atrium. Styled by Jade McIntosh Flowers and illuminated with custom lighting from Love Glows, the space felt intimate, dramatic, and perfectly suited to the venue’s industrial character.

Jaya Bargwanna led a short ceremonial moment, allowing us to capture the venue as it would feel during a real wedding ceremony — atmospheric, refined, and unmistakably inner-city.

The Proposal

After the styled ceremony images were complete, we quietly separated from Tay to reveal the final setup to Tori. The room was filled with flower petals and the glowing proposal sign, creating a moment that felt both personal and cinematic.

When Tay entered the space and Tori dropped to one knee, the reaction was instant — emotional, joyful, and completely real. Tay said yes (of course), and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. What began as a styled shoot ended as a genuine milestone moment for two people very much in love.
