Cruise & Ashley | Adams Peak Country Estate Wedding | Hunter Valley

Cruise & Ashley's wedding at Adams Peak Country Estate was the kind of day that reminds you why this venue is so highly sought after. Relaxed, emotional, beautifully planned, and completely unhurried — set against the rolling landscape of Broke in the Hunter Valley, it was everything a country wedding should be.

Adams Peak Country Estate sits in Broke, about an hour and a half from Newcastle, and it's one of those Hunter Valley wedding venues that genuinely earns its reputation. On-site accommodation, multiple ceremony locations, and a reception barn that feels both rustic and refined — it's built for couples who want a private, all-in-one experience without sacrificing comfort or flow. There's no shuttling between locations, no rushed timelines, no compromises.

Having photographed weddings at Adams Peak Country Estate across several seasons now, I know how the property moves throughout the day — where the light falls, how the timeline tends to unfold, and how to build a schedule that keeps everything feeling calm rather than controlled.

Why Adams Peak Country Estate Works So Well for Weddings

A Wedding Long in the Making

Cruise & Ashley had planned their wedding well in advance, giving themselves time to lock in the vendors they loved. Like many couples, their plans were delayed by COVID, stretching the lead-up far longer than expected.

When the day finally arrived, it was clear the extra wait had paid off. Every guest they wanted was there, the weather delivered clear blue skies, and the entire day unfolded without rush or compromise.

Groom Prep at Adams Peak Country Estate

Cruise got ready in the main house on site, surrounded by his groomsmen, parents, and close friends. The atmosphere was calm and upbeat — exactly the tone you want heading into the ceremony.

Once everyone was suited up, we stepped outside for a handful of relaxed portraits with the groomsmen and immediate family before heading towards the ceremony location.

Bride Prep at The Retreat

Meanwhile, bride prep was underway at The Retreat, just a short walk from the main house. Blended by Bloch and Sarah Hairstyles took care of hair and makeup, while Hunter Valley Video and I captured the quiet moments, details, and anticipation building throughout the morning.

One of the most emotional moments of the day came during Ashley’s first look with her father in the garden. He stood with his back turned until Ashley stepped close — and when he turned around, the emotion was immediate and overwhelming. It was one of those moments that stays with you long after the day ends.

Ceremony on The Lawn

The ceremony took place on The Lawn, with the Broke Mountain range forming a stunning natural backdrop. A floral-wrapped arbour anchored the space, and under clear skies, guests settled in for a heartfelt ceremony.

As the bridesmaids walked down the aisle, Cruise began to well up — and when Ashley appeared, the emotion only grew. After being walked down the aisle by her father and sharing a few words at the front, the ceremony officially began.

I Do Bespoke Ceremonies led the ceremony, weaving together their story, personalities, shared history, and a few light-hearted moments that had everyone smiling. It struck the perfect balance between meaningful and relaxed.

Family Photos, Bridal Party & The Secret Tree

Following the ceremony, Cruise & Ashley were showered in petals as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. We then moved straight into a large group photo and family photos, keeping things efficient so everyone could return to canapés and celebration.

With family photos complete, we regrouped the bridal party and headed up to The Secret Tree — a favourite Adams Peak location — for a relaxed moment, a glass of wine, and a few portraits surrounded by nature.

Sunset Photos & Paddock Portraits

After the bridal party returned to mingle, we spent some time with the couple and the photo and video team exploring more of the property — including a visit with the highland cows.

As the sun dipped behind the Broke Mountain range, we made our way to the front paddocks and then onto the jetty overlooking the dam. The light was soft, the setting peaceful, and it was the perfect way to transition from portraits into the evening celebrations.

Reception & Dancefloor Energy

The reception took place back at the barn, where Silent Shout Entertainment set the tone for the night — reading the room perfectly and mixing crowd-pleasing classics with modern favourites.

Dinner was catered by Monkey Place Catering, easily one of the standout catering teams in the region. The combination of great food, good music, and an easygoing guest list kept the dancefloor full well into the night.
