Newcastle Styled Bridal Shoot
This styled bridal shoot in Newcastle was all about doing things a little differently. Instead of lush gardens or coastal cliffs, we headed into the inner city streets and found beauty in the unexpected — textured walls, quiet laneways and pockets of light most couples walk straight past on their wedding day.
The Concept – Urban, Modern, Unexpected
The idea was simple: show how a bridal look can shine in places you’d never usually consider “pretty” enough for wedding photos.
We collaborated with some of Newcastle’s best wedding vendors to bring it to life. Our model and bride-to-be, Brianna, wore two stunning gowns from Melissa Waite Couture, each paired with different bouquets created by Marianne from Mayfield Floral Co.
Rather than chasing picture-perfect backgrounds, we leaned into contrast — industrial edges, clean lines, pockets of soft light and a whole lot of attitude.
Florals, Fashion & Playing with Contrast
Marianne created two bouquets to tell two different stories:
One in her signature garden style with colour and texture.
Another more modern, sculptural bouquet in all white.
Same model, same dresses — but the florals completely changed the overall feel of each look. It’s a perfect example of how much impact your bouquet choice can have on your entire bridal vibe.
I always encourage couples to think about florals as part of the storytelling, not just a “wedding checklist” item. The right bouquet can elevate your portraits in a big way.
Why We Love Shooting in the City
Newcastle’s city streets are full of little surprises — interesting light, reflections in windows, lines and shapes you just don’t get anywhere else. When you put a bridal look into that environment, the contrast is huge… and it photographs beautifully.
